UAE.  Her Excellency Sarah Al Amiri, UAE Minister of State for Advanced Sciences, has concluded her tour of several US-based scientific institutions, as part of the UAE’s plans to enhance international scientific collaboration.
The newly introduced Advanced Sciences portfolio has set an ambitious scientific diplomacy program to forge strong relationships with leading global players in the science sector and catalyse the exchange of insight and expertise in fundamental and applied science research.

The trip includes stops at the United States’ National Science Foundation, National Institute of Health, and National Academy of Sciences.
“The UAE has made great strides in embracing advanced sciences,” H.E. Al Amiri stated, “the Emirates has come to occupy a prominent position on the international stage not only for implementing hi-tech solutions, but also for developing new ones and leading the charge in forecasting and building the future today.”
The Minister of State for Advanced Sciences went on to explain: “This visit to some of the United States’ foremost scientific institutions sets the foundations for deeper collaboration between the UAE’s researchers and scientists and their American counterparts in terms of research and fellowships. This, in turn, encourages and enhances research in the UAE, improves the sector’s governance and regulations and sets the tone for future growth.”
The scientific diplomacy program seeks to attract more foreign talent to the region in an effort to improve research, share best practices and increase the implementation of research results.

Furthermore, it encourages knowledge-sharing across regions; builds an extended scientific community; increases opportunities for collaboration on joint research; and improves prospects for scientists in the region. Moreover, the programme paves the way for leveraging the newly forged relationships between research institutions, while also improving the perception and credibility of the science sector in the UAE
