UAE. Middle East's fastest growing online fashion and lifestyle company, reveals surprising trends as the region's shoppers move online.

Dubai. Namshi.com, the region’s premier online destination for footwear and fashion, has spotted some surprising trends emerging as shoppers in the GCC move online to find the clothes they want. Not the least of these is the fact that men buy more shoes than women!

“We have been surprised to see a number of preconceptions overturned as Namshi has expanded its operations across the GCC and Egypt,” said co-founder Louis Lebbos. “Men are buying more shoes than women and at the same time women on average spend double what men do on other items of clothing.”

A blow for those who think coating anything in pink will make it more attractive to women is the fact that only 20% of women prefer blue, with black and red being the other top colours this season. At the same time, men have plumped for blue, white and grey.

“We’re starting to see regional trends emerging, too,” said Lebbos. “Swimwear is a very popular line in Egypt, while party dresses are popular in the UAE. And while the Saudi and Kuwaiti buyers are focused on dresses and tops, Qatari shoppers are opting for much more traditional Arabian styles.”

Websites’ ability to track traffic and capture trends means that for the first time, analysis of shopper behaviours can truly reflect entire markets, as well as being used to hone product highlights and widen the choice presented to shoppers.

Namshi holds over 400 brands and stocks over ten thousand lines of shoes and apparel, offering free delivery and free returns across the GCC and Egypt. There are over 100,000 visitors to the site every day, with both English and Arabic supported. This means Namshi’s customers represent a true cross-section of the region’s shoppers.

“Web technologies mean we can track shoppers’ preferences to deliver a faster, smarter and more enjoyable online experience for them and Namshi’s all about having  a great experience. We’re looking forward to analyzing more trends as time goes on!”
