UAE. GE employees around the world took a timeout to focus on their own health and wellness as part of a larger internal commitment to GE’s healthymagination initiative.

GE Middle East & African headquarters located at Dubai Internet City has been selected to pilot the Healthy Worksite certification, a program under GE’s new, company-wide health initiative, HealthAhead.

HealthAhead will recognize, reward – and certify -- leadership and excellence in worksite health. With HealthAhead, GE is further strengthening its commitment to healthymagination by building a company-wide culture of health.

HealthAhead Day provided an opportunity for GE employees to engage in the Company’s new efforts to create a culture of health, through an increased focus on nutrition, stress management, smoking cessation and the promotion of physical activity.

Locally at GE’s office in Dubai Internet City, almost 400 employees spent several hours at a variety of events and activities centered on health and wellness including a presentation on general health by a leading health practitioner.

GE also brought in a health-food provider to supplement the lunchtime meals and educate employees on maintaining a healthy diet.

During this time, employees also heard from GE’s Chairman and CEO Jeff Immelt on his vision for the Company’s healthymagination initiative and what it means for GE employees.

Launched in May of 2009, GE’s healthymagination initiative combines GE's research and product development, services, consumer capabilities and partnerships to reduce cost, increase access and improve the quality of health care across the world.

As part of this commitment, GE also committed to improve the health of its employees, retirees and their families. GE will provide increased education about healthy living, new resources at GE worksites, online tools to help employees better track and manage health, and incentives to live healthier lives.
