The Parade will include over 100 participating units from the public and private sectors such as banks, schools, NGOs, cultural centers, marching bands, scouts and artists, accompanied by 10 floats, each representing the most prominent events that constituted a historical milestone in modern Amman’s history.

Amman’s old schools will also participate in full color represented by the Ahliyeh School for Girls, Bishops School, Jubilee School, Sukainah, the Madrasati Initiative and Haya Arts Center.  A beautiful procession of well choreographed participants representing Amman’s markets; Souk Boukhariyeh, Abu Mahjoub , Jordan Radio & Television Corporation, the Olympic Committee and our National sports teams.

A large number of NGOs and community members will also be celebrating this occasion including the King Hussein Cancer Foundation, the Breast Cancer Program, Jordan River Foundation, Tkiyet Um Ali, Young Entrepreneurs Society, Royal Health Society and Ahl Al Himmeh amongst many others.

“The response from the community when it came to the participation of public and private entities was unexpected,” says Khaled Burgan, the Investment and Tourism Advisor to the Mayor of Amman as well as the Parade Manager. “We are extremely happy with the results and thank all the different participants for their enthusiasm and support they have shown this project.

The participation of both the private and public sectors is unprecedented with huge support being shown for the project by Amman’s citizens.”

The Parade is a national celebration held under the patronage of their Majesties King Abdullah II and Queen Rania Al Abdullah, and managed by the Greater Amman Municipality as the peak to the series of events that have been taking place throughout the year to celebrate Amman’s Centennial anniversary.

The Parade will take place Downtown Amman starting from the Roman Theater to The Greater Amman Municipality (GAM) complex in Ras Al Ain.

The Centennial Parade’s theme combines historical insight as well as a vivid display of transformations that have occurred in the last 100 years, with live entertaining acts and fun festivities.

Through the Parade, GAM aims to bring the people of Amman together to celebrate its 100th year anniversary in addition to the 10th anniversary of His Majesty King Abdullah II’s accession to the throne.

The number of participants shall exceed 1700 people and the number of spectators is expected to reach up to 100,000. The live broadcast will give millions the opportunity to watch the Parade on Jordan Television.
Special thanks are also due to the large numbers of volunteers that are signing up for the vital roles of the Parades’ logistical support and participation needs and requirements.

“These volunteers have shown exceptional enthusiasm. Individual thank you’s to each one of them is extended in making this a memorable event says Khaled Burgan, Tourism and Investment advisor to the mayor, who is grateful for their desire and dedication to serve the city and the country.
