UAE. Duchamp, the vibrant UK label for fine accessories and luxury men’s trappings, is expanding in duty free markets, following a successful debut in the Dubai Mall recently.
The outlet recently opened in the region’s largest mall was its first in the Middle East and according to the brand’s franchisee, Star Fashions (ETA Star Group) there are plans in place for another two, in Deira City Centre in July followed by another in Festival Centre by the end of the year.
“The brand is already present in London Heathrow terminals 4 and 5,” said M Faheem Dulvi, Marketing Manager Star Fashions.
“Managing director Marc Psarolis had looked to get into the Dubai market for many years and now that plan is coming to fruition.”
The brand, known for men’s shirts, accessories and handmade ties in bold colours and exclusive fabrics currently has six stores in the UK, in London’s Regent Street, Fenchurch Street. Ledbury Road, Canary Wharf and other tourist and business districts. Its ties are made on a limited edition basis so that only 1,000 are produced of any single design, with a special thread yarn and usually very lustrous colours. The company is also keen to expand its global wholesale business, and it says the Dubai Mall opportunity came along at the right time in terms of the company’s international expansion, since its insurrection in 1989.
In travel retail, the company says it has interest from Dubai Duty Free, Sharjah Duty Free, Abu Dhabi Duty Free and Saudi Arabian Airlines inflight programme Skysales. Ideally it would like to introduce its compact shop-in-shop format to airports in the region.
The company was exhibiting at the Middle East Exclusive expo in Dubai last week.
