UAE. The UAE Chapter of the Entrepreneurs’ Organization (EO) held a meeting, the latest in its ’In The Boardroom’ series, with Riad Kamal, CEO Arabtec Holdings. The meeting was hosted by Riad Kamal and held at the Arabtec headquarters in Dubai. Arabtec is the largest construction company in the UAE and is also the first privately owned company to go public in the UAE.

Kamal shared his journey as an entrepreneur over the last 34 years in Dubai, from how he started his business, to the time he took his company public in 2004.

Kamal also shared his view of the current real estate development in the UAE: where, when and what contributed to the present situation. Furthermore, he highlighted certain measures that are being taken, both, from within the industry and externally, to manage the fallout from the impact of the local and international financial crises. He finally shed light on how long he thought it would take for the local real estate market to stabilize.

“We’re all stakeholders in the development of Dubai. Where things head, affect us all”, said one attendee.

“Real estate has been an all-consuming phenomenon recently and it’s interesting to get a view from the inside, rather than just as an investor," remarked Ikenna Onyejiaka, an EO member and CEO of Libra Group.

In The Boardroom (ITB) is an initiative of the local EO chapter, where a small group of members is invited to visit local luminaries in government, semi-government and private sector organisations to gain insights into the host’s entrepreneurial journey, as well as general and specific information on market and economic trends.

Note: The Entrepreneurs’ Organization (EO) is a global community that enriches members’ lives through direct peer-to-peer learning, connections to experts and once-in-a-lifetime experiences. EO is the catalyst that enables entrepreneurs to learn from each other, leading to greater business success and an enriched personal life. EO is comprised of more than 7,000 like-minded members in 38 countries, with an average member age of 39 and average annual revenue of US$15.5 million. The organisation is committed to building the world’s most influential community of entrepreneurs. The UAE chapter is made up of 57 members from ten nationalities and an average member age of 37. Average annual revenue of each UAE chapter’s member is US$ 25 million.
