UAE. In time for Ramadan, a particularly special month for family gatherings, Boomerang, the classic cartoon channel, invited families to bond while learning to draw their favorite cartoon characters. The event was held at the Jam Jar Art Gallery under the guidance of world-renowned artist and caricaturist Joanne Brooker, head of the Brooker Art Studio.
Within moments, both parents and children set to making their own cartoon masterpieces, fully engaged in the creative process.
“Art shouldn’t be intimidating,” said Brooker. “People often get caught up in what their picture should look like when they should be having fun. What we are doing is help break down that creative wall. You would be surprised at the results when everyone just starts to enjoy themselves.”
By the end of the workshop, parents and children were sharing their creations with their own artistic spin added to each drawing. The families attending noted that they were sure to go home and make this a regular activity.
“Boomerang has taken a particular joy in its dedication to bringing families together,” said Flecka Picardo, Marketing and PR Manager, Boomerang, Turner Rep.
“Boomerang provides much loved cartoon entertainment for the entire family. It gives mothers and fathers the opportunity to share with their children the characters that they grew up enjoying, especially all time favorites like Tom & Jerry, Looney Toons and The Flintstones. We are incredibly proud to be part of the special magic when families bond in that shared experience,” continued Picardo.
Boomerang, part of the Turner Broadcasting Systems family, will be hosting additional workshops for schoolchildren and teachers in the coming months. It is expected that, after their lesson in art, the children will go home and proudly teach their parents a thing or two.
