Algeria to open car factory with foreign partners

ALGERIA. Algeria's first car-making factory will soon open, local press quoted Algerian Industry and Investment Promotion Minister Abdelhamid Temmar as saying this week.

Temmar said negotiations between Algerian and foreign partners would conclude "within two or three months". The Minister added that the factory aims to meet at least 40% of national demand. In 2007 Algeria imported vehicles worth a total of US$3 billion.
