UAE. As part of its plans to provide state-of-the-art e-living experience to the community, Dubai Lifestyle City (DLC) has collaborated with Cisco to design and implement the next generation smart building and integrated community services at DLC.

The partnership aims at offering unique lifestyle features by fully integrating the different systems and services within the community and creating a seamlessly integrated 'Digital Living Experience' for DLC residents.

According to Arif B Rahman, Managing Director, Dubai Lifestyle City, DLC will be the first digitally integrated community in the region with unique lifestyle features and seamless experience of digital living available to the residents.

He said: “Through our collaboration with Cisco, we will be focusing on future living. The entire DLC community will be interconnected with the Fiber Optic Network infrastructure backbone. Each building within the community will have Fibre to the Home (FTTH) Converged Network, which can deliver ultra-high broadband Internet access to the end users. The entire community will have wireless access facility, allowing the residents to stay connected with the Internet anywhere within the community,” he explained.

Mazen Jabri, General Manager, Cisco UAE, has echoed similar views and said Cisco considered it a great privilege to be part of a remarkable futuristic lifestyle project such as Dubai Lifestyle City.

Jabri said: “Dubai Lifestyle City’s decision to invest in innovative technology reflects the developer’s vision to provide a unique living experience to the city’s tenants. Today’s technologies are changing the way people live by enabling them to communicate in ways never possible before. Cisco has been at the forefront of providing developers with networking technologies and value-added services in homes that work seamlessly with standard-based technologies to create a personalised lifestyle experience.”

Upon deploying the integrated system that connects all the units within the entire enclave with each other, the residents will be able to enjoy user-friendly home control and monitoring system, advanced security features, high definition home theatre system, media entertainment, IP communication system and interactive community portal. They will be able to access any service any time from any device.

Each resident will be integrated into the digital data centre that offers 24/7 operation and the DLC support staff will effectively interact with the customers to deliver the highest quality of services.

The community-wide integration of services offered as part of the e-living will cover e-concierge services like community assistance and information exchange, facility booking services for restaurants, spas, hotels, sports and recreation facilities, on-line maintenance facilities  like preventive maintenance, community announcements through Virtual Notice Board, DLC culture and society services, community (residents interactions), DLC news and other facilities like online shopping and advertisements.

DLC also plans to provide on-demand digital entertainment to its residents from the digital data centre, which will include video on demand (VoD) with latest movies and shows, music on demand (MoD), gaming on demand (GoD), sports on demand (SoD), E-learning and education on demand.

The whole project is slated for completion by the third quarter of 2009. E-Home with control capability will create a totally automated environment and create a different lifestyle experience, resulting in better security and energy efficiency. Everything from air-conditioners, lights, curtains, safety and security systems to home entertainment system and the communication devices can be integrated and accessed through a single user interface such as touch screens, wireless remote, PDA, or mobile phones.

Dubai Lifestyle City, an AED 2.4 billion project in Dubailand sprawling over an area of four million square feet, is envisaged as a unique residential enclave that offers its residents and visitors an enchanting lifestyle within a calm and natural environment. The project, the first of its kind in the region, aims at the creation of a self-sufficient residential community surrounded by fine hotels, spas, sports academies and other amenities, digitally connected to each other. Dubai Lifestyle City will have 68 villas and 120 villettes (apartments), all designed in the exquisite Tuscany style, oozing an earthiness that goes well with the desert surroundings.
