UAE. Imports of cloven hoof animals and all their products from Egypt to the UAE have been banned by a decision by the UAE Ministry of Environment and Water.

The decision which was issued by Minister Dr Rashid Ahmed Bin Fahad based on reported cases of foot-and-mouth disease in Egypt called on all UAE animal resources departments and concerned regulatory bodies to initiate coordination to enforce the ban which is aimed to preemptively prevent any possible spread of contagious or endemic diseases.

Meanwhile, the Ministry, in another decision, lifted the ban on imports of sheep, goats and cloven hoof animals from the UK which reports from the OIE (World Organization for Animal Health) said is free from foot-and-mouth disease.

The lift of the ban provides for putting all inbound shipments subject to effective UAE veterinary quarantine regulations.
