IRAQ. MoneyGram (NASDAQ:MGI), a global provider of innovative money transfer and payment services, announces today that it is expanding its global network to Iraq to provide its money transfer services to customers through an agreement with Al Noor.

MoneyGram customers will now be able to send and receive funds at Al Noor locations in Baghdad, Basrah and Najaf.

"The remittance industry in Iraq is growing and MoneyGram's presence in the country is growing with it to provide more choices for customers who need to send or receive money to and from loved ones around the world," says Maher Haddad, MoneyGram's senior regional director.

"Adding Iraq, one of the most under-banked countries in the Middle East, to our global network aligns with our strategy to deliver access to financial services to unbanked and under-banked consumers."

According to the World Bank, more than $270 billion flowed into Iraq in 2014, of which most of the remittances were sent from the United States, Syria and Jordan.
