UAE. With the 17th edition of Dubai Shopping Festival 2012 in full swing, thousands of visitors to the festival are set to enjoy a series of exciting concerts that will grab the spotlight over the next four weeks.
First on to the stage is “The New Years Concert” on Friday 13th January. The event is an Arabic musical featuring talented entertainers Mohamad Hamami and The Sharq Orchestra with guest performer Charbel Rouhana. The show will be held at the Dubai Community Theatre and Arts Centre, who are also the organizers of the event.
Charbel Rouhana is one of Lebanon’s finest performers on the oud and is returning to perform with Mohammed Hamami and the Sharq Orchestra for this special concert that will feature their interpretations of many Arabic classics.
Filipino superstars Tony Gongaza and Sam Milby will take the city by storm on 27th January with performances at Dubai Festival City. Dubbed “The ultimate dream concert”, it is organised by Vivid Vision .
Tony Gongaza is a famous Filipino singer, TV host and actress while Sam Milby, a Filipino of American origin, is a versatile entertainer, and in addition to his singing talent, is also an actor and a commercial model.
On 2nd February, Homayoun Sharjanian, a renowned Persian classical music vocalist, will perform at a traditional Persian music concert titled “Homayoun Sharjarian Hamnavazan Ensemble Live”. The event, which is organized by M4 Events, will be staged at the Dubai World Trade Centre – Rashid Hall.
Two of Bollywood’s sensational music-directors, the duo of Vishal Dadlani and Shekhar Ravijani, will perform at “Dubai Rocks 2012” at the Madinat Jumeirah on 3rd February.
Organized by Oberon Middle East, the duo of Visual and Shekhar will be bringing with them a 25-member Hollywood troupe for a 3-hour non-stop performance.
The two prolific music directors have a string of hits to their credit including 'Om Shanti Om', 'Salaam Namaste', 'Bluffmaster', 'Tashan', 'Bachna Ae Haseeno', 'Dostana', 'Anjaana Anjaani', 'Tees Maar Khan', Ra One, 'The Dirty Picture', to name a few. The duo are also accomplished singers and are behind Biollywood hits including: 'Thug Le' , 'Ik Junoon' , 'Kurbaan Hua' , 'Jaane Kyun' , 'Dhan Te Nan' and 'Bin Tere’.
Also on 3rd February , Dubai Festival City will again provide top class entertainment when it becomes the venue for a concert featuring another one of India’s famous music directors, Harris Jayaraj. He is known for producing lilting melodies for South Indian films, the kind of music that continues to be hummed by Tamil film goers to this day. Titled “Harris On The Edge” the concert is organized by Radio Hello 89.5FM.
Bringing the curtains down on the series of international concerts will be Sadbahar Geet on 4th February, an Indian musical night, organised by Heart & Soul Event Organisers. It is a tribute show dedicated to the Bollywood heroes of a bygone era including Shammi Kapoor and Dev Anand with a live performance by the ‘Voice of India’ fame, Abhas Joshi, and his band.
