UAE. To mark the 40th Anniversary of the unification of the United Arab Emirates, which took place in December 1971, BMW Group will launch the BMW 7 Series UAE 40th Anniversary Limited Edition at the 2011 Dubai International Motor Show.

The exclusive example of BMW's flagship model will be limited to just 40 cars and sold by BMW Group's two importers in the UAE: AGMC and Abu Dhabi Motors.

The BMW 7 Series UAE 40th Anniversary Limited Edition features an exclusive Marakesh Brown exterior colour. This is coupled with a Merino Platinum leather interior, which features the UAE emblem on the headrest, iDrive button and other areas of the interior trim. An elegant 'UAE 40 years' designation features on the chrome trim at the rear of the 7 Series.

Based on the BMW 750Li model, the UAE 40th Anniversary Edition is fitted with a 4.4-litre V8 engine coupled with BMW TwinPower twin-turbo technology. This produces 407 hp from 5500-6400rpm and a maximum of 600 Nm of torque from 1750-4500rpm.

Since its launch in November 2008, the BMW 7 Series has become one of the best selling cars in the Middle East region and is a byword for luxury, elegance and innovation.

Designed by a Middle East duo - Lebanese-born Karim Habib is Head of Exterior Design for all BMW models, and Iranian-born Nader Faghihzadeh was responsible for the interior.

The BMW 7 Series features the automotive industry's first Arabic-language iDrive control system to control the multitude of functions and navigation system.

"The BMW 7 Series is our undisputed flagship of the range within the Middle East and we thought it only fitting that we produce a bespoke version for the UAE in celebration of the country's 40th Anniversary," said Dr Joerg Breuer, Managing Director of BMW Group Middle East.

Together with local importer AGMC, BMW Group will be showcasing 16 new models at the Dubai International Convention Centre from 10th and 14th November, 2011. The BMW 7 Series "UAE Edition" is set to be just one of the highlights at the BMW Group stand, alongside the BMW Vision ConnectedDrive, a demonstration of BMW's development of innovative driver assistance systems and mobility services, and an exclusive BMW 7 Series "Steinway & Sons Edition".

iNTERNATIONAL. Control over Homs will enable al Assad to rapidly move forces from the north to the south to meet emerging rebel threats. It will also provide a key avenue of retreat to the Alawite coast in the event that he needs to flee Damascus.

INTERNATIONAL. A government that slaughters its people and maims a whole generation is not a government with whom to negotiate. It is nothing short of travesty that the Obama administration is still mired in the illusion that a political solution is possible.
