UAE.  Dubai Events and Promotions Establishment, organisers of Dubai Summer Surprises (DSS) announced the second winner, Vishal Kondwilkar, Indian (coupon no 769036), in the Dubai Shopping Malls Group (DSMG) raffle which offers ten lucky winners the chance to drive off in BMW cars during the summer festival and Ramadan-in-Dubai.

The draw was held at BurJuman, where the décor of the raffle event stage was designed to represent Spain, the destination that Phileas Fogg, his trusty servant Passpartpout and Princess Aouda reach after an adventurous hot air balloon flight from Paris. The look was taken from the film version of Jules Verne’s novel Around the World in Eighty Days, and included Flamenco dancers and a mock bullfight. Scenes from the novel were also enacted live by the protagonists ahead of the draw.

The presence of Spiderman further heightened the excitement at BurJuman Centre. Being performed in the UAE for the first time, the 22-minute ‘Spiderman Live’ Show has kept audiences spellbound at the mall throughout the first ten days of July.
“Raffles are one of the most exciting attractions for mall visitors during the city’s summer festival and act as a great incentive to shop, as shoppers get rewarded for spending more. We are very pleased to take part in this year’s DSMG raffle and support this innovative initiative to boost Dubai’s retail appeal. On behalf of the mall management, I congratulate the winner on his good fortune,” said Eisa Ibrahim, General Manager of BurJuman.

The next draw will take place on July 14, 2011 at Lamcy Plaza, which will be designed to represent Arabia. The 10-week citywide promotion runs concurrently across 14 participating malls in Dubai with the last draw set to be held on August 31 to coincide with the last date of the Ramadan-in-Dubai.

Shoppers spending a total of AED 200 at any of the 14 participating malls will be eligible to participate in the promotion, through exchanging the purchase receipts for a raffle coupon. Each weekly draw will feature coupons entered during that week. Coupons entered during one week will not get carried forward to the next.

The in-mall promotion is being organised by DSMG, the umbrella organization of shopping malls in Dubai, in keeping with its mandate to re-energise the mall industry in Dubai and promote shopping and retail trade, especially during the hot summer months.

DSMG’s 2012 model BMW 3-series promotion will be available across 14 leading shopping malls in the city including Al Bustan Centre, Al Ghurair Centre, Al Manal Centre, Al Mulla Plaza, Arabian Centre, BurJuman Centre, Century Mall, Hamarain Centre, Ibn Battuta, Lamcy Plaza, Mazaya Centre, Oasis Centre, Palm Strip and Reef Mall.

INTERNATIONAL. A currency war is different from any other kind of conventional war in that the object is to kill oneself. The nation that succeeds in inflicting the most damage on its own citizens wins the war. The only real way to win is not to play.
