UAE. Sports enthusiasts rejoice! The UAE’s long awaited only daily sports newspaper, Sport 360°, has finally kicked off.

Whether you are an aspiring football or golf star, or prefer to watch from the sidelines, this one-of-its-kind newspaper is for you.  No longer will sports be mentioned in a small back section; Sport 360° has offered sport a newspaper of its own.

Sport 360°’s Dubai launch was held at Art Sawa gallery on September 28, under the patronage and in the presence of HH Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, President of the Department of Civil Aviation and Chief Executive and Chairman of The Emirates Group. As the only sports dedicated newspaper in the UAE, and even the world, the event was packed with over 400 guests including Government officials, VIPs, media personalities and members of the press.

During his speech, Michael Chalhoub, founder and CEO of Gulf Sports Media and Sport 360°, passionately explained: “ We created Gulf Sports Media with one great ambition: to become the leading publisher of sports information in the region. And thus Sport 360 was born! It began as a dream, inspired by the one thing sports can do better than anything else and where all else fails: it can unite us all.”

Canvases of some of the world’s greatest sports players and scenes lined the venue walls, lit by red and white spots to remind guests of the brand’s corporate colors. The Sport360 team mingled with the guests, directing them to copies of the pre-first issue laid around the venue. Ladies in bright red F1 racing outfits tended to the attendees and gathered their business cards for a big prize draw. Entertainment was hosted by Dubai Eye’s Tom Urquhart, with music from Radio One and Nasimi Beach Resident DJ Marko “SmokinGroove”.

The launch was as action-packed as the newspaper’s pages, with an impressive Capoeira demonstration and a surprise exclusive kick-boxing showdown between four-time World Heavy Weight Muai Thai Champion Alain “The Black Panther” Ngalani and four-time World Middle Heavy Weight K1 Champion James K “The Sensei”. After an energetic 3 round fight, Alain Ngalani walked away with the Sport 360° gold trophy.

Three lucky attendees won pairs of tickets for the 2010 Formula 1 Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, the final of the 2010 FIFA Club World Championship UAE and Rugby 7 tickets. Guests walked away with Sport360°’s Issue 0, prepared exclusively for this occasion by the newspaper’s editors and reporters, and were surprised by Sport360 branded sunshades placed on their cars.

Sport 360° is an English-language daily sports newspaper catering to all sports enthusiasts in the UAE.
