UAE.  The second Yas Island concert erupted last night with an electric performance by jazz funk legends Jamiroquai, forming part of the Yasalam programme which is brought to Abu Dhabi by Flash Entertainment.

The pioneers of acid jazz were enthusiastically received by tens of thousands of funk-loving fans after the end of the first day’s practice sessions for the 2009 Formula 1™ Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.

Taking place at the newly opened Ferrari World on Yas Island, the second night of the Yas Island after-race concerts left the audience begging for more, as they called for several encores. The band performed tracks from their new album as well as some of their best loved hits including ‘Cosmic Girl’, ‘Space Cowboy’ and ‘Little L’.

The Yas Island after-race concerts offer four nights of spectacular world class entertainment on Yas Island exclusively for Grand Prix ticket holders. The Jamiroquai concert follows Thursday’s stunning opening performance by Beyonce.

Race ticket holders can look forward to another two spectacular nights with American rock stars Kings of Leon taking to the stage tonight, and a big bang which ends the Yasalam programme with rock legends Aerosmith on Sunday night following the  Formula 1™ season finale.

John Lickrish, Managing Director, Flash, commented: “From the moment we opened the concert gates the atmosphere here tonight has been incredible.

The crowd, exhilarated after the first day of practice sessions, poured through to the concert arena looking to be entertained and Jamiroquai most certainly delivered on that. Their electrifying on stage performance that the group are so famous for, wowed the crowds leaving them elated and hungry for more. What an unbeatable way to close the day.’’

Performing as part of the ‘Yasalam on Yas Island’ celebrations, Jamiroquai is the second of a star-studded line-up of the world’s best musical talent who are performing over the race weekend following on from Beyonce’s opening night concert.

American rockers Kings of Leon will take to the stage Saturday  with Aerosmith providing the thrilling climax to the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix on Sunday.
